UPDATE: Easy now ; ) Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. The $20 Tutorial DVD is simply for those who would like to view the tutorials offline, but you can still view them online for free. I also didn’t want to give all of my secrets away but we are also including an Ipod version of the tutorials so that you can put them on your mobile devices to watch on the go.

You can also buy these clouds instead : )

Video Copilot Tour: We are going to film a tour of the facility so that you don’t have to travel. We’ll take you through the fun zone.

Well we’re all working hard as I’m sure many of you are and we will be adding many great things to the site. Including some great new tutorials and information. And for those who have been wondering, I’m also planning to put together a DVD with all of the free tutorials once we get to number 50. It will also include the Sin City Tutorial plus the Epic Presets. Oh, and did I mention it will cost only $20.

We are also working on a special surprise that I can’t mention yet.

…and yes I love doing that ; )

Additionally, I received an email from someone about doing a tour of Video Copilot, and that is also something coming soon. Then you can see where we work and how the magic is made.
One day at a time…

July 19th, 2007 @ 5:12 pm
DAMMIT JIM! I'm a Doctor not a fortune teller!

Well, looking forward to it all AK. Sold! Can you explain in a little more detail what you mean by a Tour of Video Copilot? I mean I know I sleep behind the wheel from time to time but I don't ummm.. understand....

Justin Productions
July 19th, 2007 @ 5:15 pm
Videocopilot FTW.

It'd be awesome to have motion graphics/special effects/matte paintings contests on Or maybe if you could post a contest where people would have to make a sequence inspired by one of your tutorials...and then the members could vote for the best and you'd give some free stuff to the winners? This way, your blog would probably be more interactive, etc.

Anyway, just a guest.
Keep up the good work.

July 19th, 2007 @ 5:19 pm
joe i have a question i realy want to watch your stuff but some how i cant view your movies man whats the delio with that and do i have to download to watch them or what.thnx
July 19th, 2007 @ 5:25 pm
Woo Hoo! Can't wait (of course, I guess I don't really have any choice but to wait since it's not made yet) ... well, hurry up. WHat are you guys doing? You don't need to sleep, think of all those hours you're wasting!!! :D

Just kidding, of course. You guys are fantastic and your efforts have been extremely helpful. Looking forward to what you have up your sleeves for the future.

July 19th, 2007 @ 5:26 pm
o damn it im from the UK, so theres no way i could take a tour but i really wish i could :P would be really cool to meet you man. O well...
S. Gilbert
July 19th, 2007 @ 5:28 pm
Awesome .... I'd definitly put down $20 for all those tuts
July 19th, 2007 @ 5:30 pm
Wow. Can I preorder the dvd? :)
July 19th, 2007 @ 5:41 pm
Hey I'm from the UK, I'm more than willing to make the trip.

Andrew can I crash on your couch when I'm there in the land of liberty?
July 19th, 2007 @ 5:44 pm
Hey, I have an idea! How about for all those people who live internationally and can't make the trip to the US, you can put up these videos on your website where you can speak to them and tell them cool stuff.
July 19th, 2007 @ 5:50 pm
I hope that Zat tut i emailed you about makes it in the top 50 :)
Jacob Wall
July 19th, 2007 @ 6:10 pm
Thanks! Might buy it, just so if i am at Church i can do it from there(No internet) and remember some things. Are they going to be higher quality than the tuts online?
July 19th, 2007 @ 6:17 pm
I cant wait, ill be buying the dvd.

> I think that tour idea is great but please be a lil more precise, i dont quite get it. What is sin city tutorial?

>Include every single archive from videocopilot.

>some of your work would be great, like parts of that movie with the SWAT.

>and the E! entertainment true hollywood story of Sam Loya's lfe
Jacob Dyer
July 19th, 2007 @ 6:24 pm
Now Andrew, by tour do you mean a video of your office? I assume so, you don't want 100 people wandering through your office and stealing your secrets.

On another note, I seem to remember that your wife is having a baby soon. Congratulations! Perhaps that is the secret thing you're working on :p

July 19th, 2007 @ 6:25 pm
a tour as in show where they work to make these sweet tuts and DVD's, and everything else revolving around VCP ... I think. And to have contest would be AWESOME ANDREW. Another dude mentioned it in an earlier comment. That is a GREAT IDEA!!! I would totally join. Like maybe before a tut you tell everyone. OK try to do this effect, then everyone tries. Whoever is best they get something or just a big GOOD JOB by AK. But then you would post the tut and everyone would be like . OH I SHOULDA DONE IT THAT WAY.
July 19th, 2007 @ 6:33 pm
hmmmm a dvd that has FREE TUTORIALS for $20!?!?!?

ok andrew no mean to rain on your parade but your products are very overpriced especially for jews like me. Who pays $50 for a few tutorials!!?!? Who pays $50 for presets that anyone can make??? WHo pays $80 for frikin clouds?!?!?

sorry dude but ...yea
July 19th, 2007 @ 6:39 pm
@ Clancy-

Really cool slow motion tutorial on the Designer Sound FX DVD along with a new tool as ofAE 7.0 called Time warp that can really help add slow motion effects without having filmed in 60p.

@ T2024

You might find some better bargains at

So will the proceeds of these DVD be put towards a forums?
Piotr Piotrowicz
July 19th, 2007 @ 6:41 pm
@ t2024

well, thing is on his dvds he has alot of extras, for example the videostreams hd has the project file, and the hd quality of them is simply amazing, andrews things arent your run of the muck, half quality things, i dont have real clouds but im sure that the resoloution in them is great, and the quality is much better than if you set up a time lapse webcam software with yourwebcam, pointed it at the clouds and let it do its business, andrews things are made professionaly, and with quality, every cent you pay makes up for the quality in these dvds, heck where else can you find such amazing presets, sure you can do similair effects, but andrew used his time and effort to put together a bunch of presets, that work on any video, so that we dont have to waste our time doing it ourselfs.
July 19th, 2007 @ 6:48 pm

Clearly you don't understand how valuable those clouds are. I've had them around a month and already busted them out like 3 times.

@ Clancy

I'm currently doing a project in FCP that was shot in 1080i60 and I've been slowing clips down a lot and adding a small motion blur. Looks like I shot it in 60p. Can't believe the difference.
July 19th, 2007 @ 6:55 pm
Pftt. Tour of Video Copilot? Ive already been there. It's called Disneyland. And yes, it indeed is the happiest place on earth. Although Im a bit pissed that they are selling the VC tshirts for 120 bucks. And it doesnt even have my size.
July 19th, 2007 @ 6:59 pm
Andrew anyone ever tell you you're worse than the movie code named "Cloverfield" explains this HORRIBLE mystery.

Andrew, you bum!

Morten Enoksen
July 19th, 2007 @ 7:02 pm
Sin city tutorial? I have not heard of that one before. But i guess its the populare BW & Red effect you mean:)
Its great that ur bringing the news already, but dont forget, u still have 8 tutorials left:P
July 19th, 2007 @ 7:13 pm
What's the "Sin City tutorial"?
July 19th, 2007 @ 7:16 pm
It seems some people are getting pissed off at andrew .i wounder why all this hostility starting now .
SCOTT- we been chating with each other lately i didnt expect you to call andrew a bum that was not cool. T2024 i think if you are that good you dont have to buy his stuff thats if you did .anywho i hope all of us stays friends.
July 19th, 2007 @ 7:39 pm
I have found myself checking the blog many times a day in hopes that something is updated that my rss didn't catch.
July 19th, 2007 @ 7:47 pm
iam with clancy30, but i agree with t2024 in the free tut part, cost 20???....
July 19th, 2007 @ 8:10 pm
there ya go, who should pay for free stuff!!!

I am not good, I just need simple training but im not willing to spend $50 on a few tuts. Too overpriced for a beginner. I do not think most of these products are worth the money, maybe DSFX but the rest are too $$$$
July 19th, 2007 @ 8:14 pm
Ok, T2024, compared to ANYTHING else on the internet like Andrew's products and tutorials, 1, don't exsist, this is the best there is, and 2, anything even close is extremely expensive. I don't know how you can be upset at a guy just trying to make some money to pay his bills man.

And again, does anyone know what the Sin city tutorial is?
July 19th, 2007 @ 8:21 pm
Video Copilot wheres its Christmas everyday...
July 19th, 2007 @ 8:27 pm
I don't normally partake in such silly arguments, but T2024, are you for real? Why should anyone give you anything for free? Seriously. If you find 20 bucks too expensive in an industry that costs a truckload of coin to produce stuff, then you're playing the wrong game [/end rant]

Andrew, once again, top job. I'll be more than happy to donate 20 bucks for what I've got out of th site already.
July 19th, 2007 @ 8:27 pm
Come on guys seriously whats $20. What about Andrew's exspense in producing these things ie. disc, labels etc. Not to mention time.

If any one is that concerned about shelling out $20 you can always watch them online. Me personally I'm more than happy to part with $20 to get a copy of these turtorials.
July 19th, 2007 @ 8:29 pm
I agree with mark becuase belive me i dig the internet for stuff like that i mean i'v been every where and i work hard and iam a spender dont get me wrong i dont have alot of money .for the stuff we do as far as film you cant find stuff like this just drag and drop for cheap i went to 1 website 1 time and i was looking for fire maybe i cant remember and the price was so expensive that i jumped off my computer and start cusing and fusing and i shot my computer .so this stuff is good for us becuse we are not that good ,some of us some people here are amazing with thier work .and for him to do that i never came across some one will do all this for free. thats all.
Andrew Dick
July 19th, 2007 @ 8:33 pm
The sin city tutorial came as a special link with action movie essentials quite a bit ago...It's a tutorial that shows you how to take footage and make only the red color you want appear(also takes advantage of lighting options to make for a better B&W video)

T2024, First off it's not 50$, and if you object so much then you can surely continue watching on this site. I'm going to purchase a copy because Andrew Kramer started me off in AE...Before i didn't even understand why anyone wanted it!

I also know Andrew puts extras that help us discover new ways to use after effects that i didn't think possible! So it's fine if you don't want to pay $20 to enjoy another fine product and support the site...
July 19th, 2007 @ 8:42 pm
If memory serves, the Sin City was a free tutorial he added as a bonus for past purchase(s). So you could use your invoice order and download it for free.

I don't know of anyone who has done more for FREE or more to build this kind of community than AK. Seriously and I'm not blowing sunshine up your ass Andrew. (Don't want it to go to your head)

I find T2024's comments, how would I describe them... Weaksauce. Annoying. Out of touch with reality. Not worth trying to explain things to.

Clancy, you can do a search on my name in Google or Reliant Films. I think 90% of my stuff is out there on Google Video or Youtube. The rest, I'm afraid you'll have to download. If you can't view the downloaded versions, you'll need to update your Media Player. I don't know why that would be though.
July 19th, 2007 @ 8:59 pm

I really love the idea of the VCP Tour!!!
I wanted to make one for my website ( )
but I took apart my rack and my monitors and everything for
remodeling my home studio lol Pretty cool stuff. I am looking forward to that!! and I am going to buy the DVD..and see what that SinCity one is

I've been updating my site all the time now!
July 19th, 2007 @ 9:15 pm
@ T2024:

There are sooooo many studios that spend thousands and thousands of dollars making the same elements in riot gear alone for productions. Do you have any Idea how long it would take you to do this stuff on your own? $50 bucks? $20 bucks? That pretty much is free. And the clouds are worth every penny. Go look at artbeats and compare the prices. Andrew wins!! The man has a kid on the way, return the support that he has given all of us!!! I still encourage Andrew to put up a donate button for the hardcore fans to help out even more. Sorry to rant and rave.
Kyle Shields
July 19th, 2007 @ 9:15 pm
July 19th, 2007 @ 9:17 pm
Oh yeah, and you can learn more from these 40 somethin' tuorials, than you will at a year of film school. So compare those prices too!!
July 19th, 2007 @ 9:43 pm
Andrew, I was't sure where else to post this...I sent you a couple of emails and the both bounced. Are you getting emails and the bounce is due to some other issue? Just had some questions that were off topic of your posts.
July 19th, 2007 @ 9:45 pm
What email did you send to?
July 19th, 2007 @ 9:58 pm
good night fellows .shoot since i came from work iam sitting here like a sniper .bed time zzzzzzzzzzzz
July 19th, 2007 @ 10:12 pm
$20 bucks, sounds great. I hate online stuff cuz you never know when it might disappear. I would love to just have a copy to keep in my library of really cool stuff.

***Kid on the way?*** you doin' a tutorial on that too?
July 19th, 2007 @ 10:18 pm
ET Entertainment: What's your website again?

Andrew: Please ignore those who don't appreciate what you do.
July 19th, 2007 @ 10:36 pm
ET Entertainment why do you keep spamming that link in every single blog?

And as for you T2024. I understand that it might look overpriced but andrew has been doing so much work you wont find anywhere for free. And i consider of ordering his dvd. Its not a shame if you cant/dont want to buy his dvd because there are 42 tutorials out there for free. Isnt andrew an amazing guy??

Darnit im off to vacation sunday arrrggg i will i survive withouth videocopilot?????
Piotr Piotrowicz
July 19th, 2007 @ 10:45 pm
Andrew if you put a donate button up, i would donate like 20 bucks of my own, ofcourse using my brothers paypal account but i pay him back whenever i ask him to do somthing for me :P
Harry mcHugh
July 19th, 2007 @ 11:53 pm
I hope the tour will be in San Francisco/Bay Area. If so, Ill be there.
July 20th, 2007 @ 12:09 am
I'll be buying 2 just to show my support.

PS Limited Collectors Edition autographed copy by Sam?!? ... think about it

maybe AK as well...
July 20th, 2007 @ 12:10 am
I think that you should charge more for these free tutorials. 20 $ is cheap. Its like selling a Porche for a price of a bike.

Charge more!
Cause you're worth it.
July 20th, 2007 @ 12:19 am
Sam signs everything. If you can find an unsigned copy it's worth an absolute forture ; )

What movie is that line from?
July 20th, 2007 @ 12:42 am
Not a movie tv commercial! L'Oreal
July 20th, 2007 @ 12:45 am
Andrew: Notting Hill
July 20th, 2007 @ 12:47 am
I am so stupid!
July 20th, 2007 @ 1:29 am
A $20 DVD of all the free online tutorials! SOLD! I'll be breakin' my fingers trying to get into my pocket to add this one to my archive! What a STEAL! gives some love back to the man who is teaching some pretty cool stuff, to so many of us. I will WELCOME the ability to reference this information from one of my production computers that is NOT connected to the net. GREAT THINKING ANDREW!!

Alexander Jansen
July 20th, 2007 @ 2:16 am
First off all; t2024 you must be either very young or very dumb. Since you havent read the news properly. The whole idea behind the DVD is to sell cheap and take it with you on-set etc. you can skip buying the dvd and just watch them free online.. Get it?! The products aren't overprized at all, they are made for people that knows how to put them to use, not for some one who has used AE for two weeks. The rather childish flaming is mostly a result of people who hasent read the newr thouroughly..
All hail VCP.:-)
Cant wait for the tour!
July 20th, 2007 @ 3:47 am
Thanks for the support everyone.

This website has a lot of full resolution, high quality videos that require a lot of bandwidth every month, dedicated hosting is expensive and you'll notice we do not have advertisements. It is from the support of everyone here that I can keep this place running strong with free tutorials almost every week. That and a lot of Mountain Dew.

I'm leaving for the night so please let us all move on and keep this a positive place to hang out.

Thanks a lot,
July 20th, 2007 @ 4:38 am
@ Alexander Jansen. That's a great idea to take the dvd on set with you. It would speed up the post a lot f you could watch the tutorial once before you shoot to remember anything that you might need to do, and otherwise would forget.
July 20th, 2007 @ 4:48 am
Oh, and did I mention it will cost only $20.

Andrew I think you have to put a good things in this DVD ...
i mean extra tutorails ... i think you have a lot of good ideas now ( of course with yours ).
this will make the people buy it.
just an idea ;)

Good Luck
July 20th, 2007 @ 5:16 am
Ok, I guess you guys are right, andrew is the best, its just that I find it hard to save up for stuff with my $5 per week allowance.

And I did pay for AE, But I do know how to get it free, I didnt, I got it for my birthday lol.
July 20th, 2007 @ 5:17 am
I've learned more about After Effects from Video Copilot than from any other source. Not only the cool techniques and effects that Andrew shares but overall AE skills - AE in the real world!

$20 is diddly-squat to keep the love flowin' :)

Riot Gear is the best $100 I've spent on video stuff in a long time.

Just waiting to clear some space on the credit card so I can buy Designer Sound FX ;)

Thanks again Andrew!!
July 20th, 2007 @ 5:19 am
$50 for Riot Gear I should say ....

Cheap at twice the price :)
July 20th, 2007 @ 5:30 am
Thank you Andrew.. really .beautiful DVD &Tutorials

Good Luck
July 20th, 2007 @ 5:59 am
@ AK- Notting hill, but I also think you can find a similar line in the movie with the kid who loses his Dad's Babe Ruth signed baseball over the fence and the dog eats it.... bummer
July 20th, 2007 @ 6:03 am
Those clouds were really expensive. I think I'll instead spend $20 on the tutorials :)
July 20th, 2007 @ 6:12 am
I was wondering the other day whether the idea to put all these tuts on a DVD and sell them just hadn't occured to you, yet, or if there were reasons not apparent to me for not doing it. Personally I think its a good idea (not overpriced at all) and I would order it, but I think I'm gonna wait for something else to order with it, 'cause S&H to Germany is 14$, just about doubling the price.
July 20th, 2007 @ 6:58 am
I was wondering if you wouldn't mind making them Zune compatible as well? I think H261 works fine on Zunes unlike H264. I think H261 works on both as well.
July 20th, 2007 @ 8:43 am
I don't know why some people attack Videocopilot. I visit this site for a long time and I remember that they had only 5 tutorials.
I'm very grateful to Andrew and to Videocopilot for all the free knowledge.

In Mexico it is very complicated to find this type of sites.

At this moment I don't have any of the products. Just waiting to clear my credit card to buy them. You know... debts :(

You can improve a lot, even if you can create your own stuffs. In my case, I already know how to create Muzzle flashes and explosions, but always is good to have extra help.

We need to respect the people who help us, like Andrew Kramer or Aharon Rabinowitz from CreativeCow.

I think it is time to give them something back, and the way to do that is buying some of the products.

Not a comercial but I hope a 50% coupon ; ) ;)
July 20th, 2007 @ 9:45 am
Andrew's having a baby?

I wanted to have his baby :(

July 20th, 2007 @ 9:45 am
Oh, forgot to add, how are you going to give a tour of the facility? How can everyone fit in your garage?

:P just kidding.
Orc Master
July 20th, 2007 @ 10:11 am
Wow, our craziest dreams came true! Videocopilot can be EVEN BETTER than it is now! :P

Great stuff coming, Andrew. Can't wait to check it ;)
July 20th, 2007 @ 10:12 am
$20 bucks for collecting 50 tutorials, plus the project files? That's really quite reasonable.

To clancy30 near the top: The "Man on Fire" editing technique is discussed in Stu Maschwitz's "The DV Rebel's Guide" book, which I *highly* recommend to those interested in filmmaking. The author is a big fan of After Effects and includes an AE project file to create the look you are asking about. You should check it out (look on page 115). :-)
July 20th, 2007 @ 2:11 pm
I will be very glad to pay $20 for an archival version of these tutorials...Plus it never hurts to support the people who deserve it.

I for one find all of VC's products to be well worth the money.

Thanks for all of the great work you do AK. It is greatly appreciated.
Don Plachno
July 20th, 2007 @ 2:50 pm
Hey Andrew!
Personally I can't wait for the free tutorials on CD. Always like to have a back up, especially with something I use in my job nearly EVERY single day, so you got my $20.00 anytime you want it.

It'll go nicely with the Real Clouds, Action Movie Essentials, Serious FX, and Film Magic Pro cd's that I currently own. I'm sure I'm like most folks who can't afford to buy everything single thing you put out (I'm still trying to figure out which kidney to sell to get Designer Sound FX), but I do what I can to help support your site. Why? Words cannot express how much I appreciate this place you've created. Before I found this VCP I was simply an After Effects hack in a small town TV station. Well, I'm still a hack from a small town TV station, but man my stuff looks good now. Every time I come to this site I find some new bit of information, hint or tutorial that I can use to make look like a video god at work.

Thank you for having the passion, drive and sense of humor to put up with our constant craving and sometimes whining for more tutorials and content. We can't help ourselves, you just make it too easy for us to look good and impress the folks we work and hang out with. Thanks!
Andrey Razumov
July 20th, 2007 @ 3:25 pm
I will buy it immidatly
July 20th, 2007 @ 3:43 pm
Don really does speak for all of us, Andrew.

Teaching is a noble art, something not enough pursue and even less are good at. For you to be able to teach in a way that all your visitors can leave with more knowledge than they came with and put it into a practical use that improves the quality of their life through hobby or work, that's just simply divine.

I know I'm not the only one feeling this, but you, and I'm obligated to mention Aharon Rabinowitz due to his same qualities, are the type of person that would have excelled at anything you would have applied yourself to. If you were a doctor, you would probably have a website called Surgery CoPilot where you offered awesome advice on how to perform a triple bypass.

From the bottom of my heart and everyone here, we say thank you for the time that you put into this site, and into this community and at the other communities like CreativeCow.

This thanks of course extends to Sam Loya, Tino, and the rest of your crew that help you out and make asses of yourself for the sake of teaching people you don't even know about something you have a real passion for.

I don't know why I just got all mushy, but I felt that with all my heart. Now that I feel like I shattered my masculinity I need to go chop wood or do something manly.

True thanks though.

(IM NOT JAPANESE - not that I dislike the Japanese, but don't profile based on a name, Kenji is short for Kenjamin like Benji is for Benjamin.)

Only $500 for the artbeats? Wow I should have gone with them.......NOT!!!! Andrew you are going to put hollywood out of business!

July 20th, 2007 @ 5:52 pm
Glad you got my email Andrew, looking forward to the tour! :D Cool to see something I sent an email about actually go into action...yay!

Saying my name in the tour would bring a small tear to my eye. ;)

July 20th, 2007 @ 6:03 pm
@Mind Drop Studios

If he takes Hollywood off the map then where the hell are we going to work after we finish our tutorials?

Maybe will create a company like the Orphanage but will be students of AK. hmmm...
July 20th, 2007 @ 6:13 pm
Andrew per your question above I sent the e-mail to I have a question about my order and a couple of other questions. I'll resend to and see if you receive it. I'll leave out my question about my order since I have the DVD now. I bought Designer Sound FX. I've just started going through it. Great quality work!
July 20th, 2007 @ 6:36 pm
Gotta Love Aharon ; )

But remember, if something ends up costing less than expected, does that make the price come down... Yeah right.
July 20th, 2007 @ 7:44 pm
Your having a baby? Im confused, oh well, that tour sounds cool. The sin city tutorial? I hope its better than my way. Stupid pen tool.
Piotr Piotrowicz
July 20th, 2007 @ 8:08 pm
Hmm, perhaps it will be a boy, then he could have an awesome interest in SFX just like his old man(Well not that old)
July 20th, 2007 @ 10:42 pm
Hey Andrew... $20.00 sounds great! I'm really looking forward to the offline tutorials. I think you have very reasonable prices and good, quality work. I've bought other video tutorials from some of the guys at Creative Cow... and (no offense to anyone) but yours are by far the best. You have a very clean, systimatic, and user-friendly approach with each lesson. Oh... yes, and don't forget the humor... you got to love the humor!

Same Old Tutorials!?!?! I've been making a new one every week ; )

If I made a list, it would obligate me to a certain set and I would like to keep the suprises coming and by the time I get to one at the bottom of the list, I may not like it anymore or I may want to do something better...

Honestly if you look at the QUALITY of what these tutorials are teaching he could easily charge well over $50 for just some let alone 50 tutorials for $20. I haven't found anyone else on the net as good as Andrew in terms of quality and real world application of his tutorials. When the DVD is ready put me down for one!

As I said earlier 20 bucks is an awesome price for 50(!) thoroughly-done, very informative and impressive tutorials plus some extra nice stuff.

And for those who don't know what "Sin City"-tutorial is; It's a tutorial that teaches you a nice technique how to make the black-and white with a colored area effect which is used in Sin City movie, very good!

Peace out!

locke from england, Andrew is making these tutorials for free, go and search all over the internet but you won't find a better place then video copilot, this site is probably one of the most famous site in after effects tutorials and i can't even think of the number of peoples who i have met on the internet making movies from this site + if you do find a site after 2 weeks of intense search which got better tutorials then this site, then its probably just a fat guy talking mono and sounds angry and sad about his life. Conclusion: This site is the best on you can find, believe me, i have searched for good tutorials before i found this site:)

Keep it up Andrew and don't bother to read comments by kids who don't know what great tutorials are:) PS: Put up a fond on this site, you deserve extra cash for these tutorials!

Well i think that some of the tutorials online could have been put together into a second Training DVD like serious effects and compositing, especially the assisted suicide tutorial, it may be simple, but the effect is priceless

I’ve known Andrew for a while, and he puts more work into what he does than anyone I know. His tutorials show you how to do what the pros are doing, and he gives you that information for free. I’ve been using After Effects since Version 3, and I have learned a ton from Andrew’s stuff here and at creative cow. I wish I had one ounce his style and creativity. I know a lot of people in this industry (I've been in TV production for about 10 years), but I haven’t known anyone who’s as talented as him and who's still willing to give this much to people at no cost.

To top that off, he provides tools like Action Movie Essentials and Riot Gear at a fraction of what they are worth. If you look at what ANYONE else is selling vs. the price of what VideoCopilot is selling, it’s not even a comparison. $50 for matted stock footage clips? Try $150 or $500 at most other places! That’s if you can even find comparable clips.

By putting the tutorials on a DVD, all that Andrew is doing is finding a way to support this awesome site, without any cost to you – unless you want to buy it. Even if you don’t buy anything here, the tutorials are still available to you.

So what’s the beef?

Andrew, my gentile friend, all I can say is that this Jew at least sees the value in what you’re doing and really appreciates it.

“And, for the record, there were a few Jewish cowboys, ladies and gentlemen. Big guys who were great shots and spent money freely. “ -- Mr. Bergstrom's lesson on the American West, ``Lisa's Substitute'' (The Simpsons)

"Andrew, my gentile friend, all I can say is that this Jew at least sees the value in what you're doing and really appreciates it." - Aharon Rabinowitz

That random quote alone was reward enough for coming back to check this thread. :D

Also, Aharon, were you on a mac when you wrote that comment? On my pc, your post is riddled with little 'question-mark-in-diamond' characters.

T2024 Says:

July 20th, 2007 at 5:16 am
Ok, I guess you guys are right, andrew is the best, its just that I find it hard to save up for stuff with my $5 per week allowance.

And I did pay for AE, But I do know how to get it free, I didnt, I got it for my birthday lol.

T2024 - when the DVD comes out I'll buy you a copy myself. You need to ask for a raise in that allowance. When I 10 years old back in the 70's I was getting twice that!

And before anyone bashes me about be insensitive to the possibility that his family has a lower economic status than most, keep in mind that the kid's playing with software that costs more than my first car!

I've learned more about AE from this site than from a dozen or so books and the entire Total Training AE series. Trust me, VC's products are a steal at twice the price!

Just curious if the tutorials will be like the ones from the Serious FX DVD where you can only pause them....or will you be able to scrub through them to go back in time or ahead? I love the seriuous FX DVD but sometimes when following the projects you need to go back to see how you did something....maybe you missed something but you cant unless you watch it all over again.
July 26th, 2007 @ 9:32 am
There are time controls at the bottom of the video player on the Serious FX DVD. Is your resolution high enough? Also, the tutorials will be just as they are online with the player controls.

July 26th, 2007 @ 11:58 pm
Guess my resolution was not big enough.....really glad I asked that question. Thanks a lot.
July 27th, 2007 @ 11:10 am
Andrew's AE tutorials are the best on the web, and it's well worth buying some of his product just to keep this site alive. Think of it as a donation.
July 27th, 2007 @ 11:14 am
Your not the only one. Glad to be of help.

July 30th, 2007 @ 5:10 am
Hey Andrew
Can i just say Ive bought 4 of your DVDs.. and selling the lessons you have on this site for a mere $20 is cutting yourself short.
You spend so much time dedicating your time to this site, and we advantage from it more that you do.. Bump up the price buddy! make some cash of us...after all we're making it off you when you we share your knowledge.. Atleast do it for the baby!!!
$20 man .. may as well give it away, or just leave it on this site.

Everyone is elbowing me to shut up.

Hey Andrew...Great tuts!

Is there a release date yet for this new DVD? I am very interested in the Sin City tut.

I read that this was an extra on one of your other DVD's, shame it isn't on this site? You could add it toward you 50 target...! Lol
I was wondering if it was just a colour pass that was used or did you also add some Riot Gear stuff and green screen?

I have my money ready and waiting for you New DVD....I think it will be a BARGIN!! especially as it works out to a little less than 10 british pounds!

Keep it up!

Kind Regards,
Martin from London, UK

yeah. Sorry about that. Actually, I'm on windows, but since my typing chops are pretty poor when I'm rushing, I ran it through MS word first. Copy > Paste. VC's blogging mechanism didn't like it.

I knew it Rabinowitz!
Have you ever seen Hot shots 2?

August 2nd, 2007 @ 10:42 pm
Don't you mean "Hot Shots Part Duex?" I did see it, but it was a while ago.
